How to Fix Ethernet doesn’t have valid IP configuration on Windows 10

There are many ways through which you can fix this issue. The workarounds given below are all possible solutions. So make sure to test the issue after performing every solution.

#1: Reboot System (Fast Startup)

  • Open Windows Search. Write Control Panel and Select.

  • From Control Panel, Select Power Options.

  • Select the option of Choose what the power buttons do from the left sidebar.

  • Now click on the option of Change settings that are currently unavailable.

  • From available options, uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended) and click Save Changes.

  • Now restart your computer to fix the issue.

#2: Check Settings of Network Adapter

  • Press Windows and R Key at the same time.
  • In run command, enter ncpa.cpl and click OK.

  • Now Right-click on the Network Connections and select Properties.

  • Check Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and Click Properties.

  • Here you need to use the address (see image below).

  • Click OK once done.

After doing this procedure, turn off your modem and turn it on after a couple of minutes. If you still face ethernet issue then try connecting it with a different ethernet cable. Moreover, replace the WiFi Router as well. If you are still facing issue after changing the cable and Router then its an internal issue with the network card.

#3: Reinstall Network Adapter

  • Press Windows and R Key at the same time.
  • In run command, enter hdwwiz.cpl and click OK.

  • From given options. Expand the Network Adapters. Right click on the Ethernet card and click Uninstall.

  • Click Uninstall again to remove the card from the system.

Now reinstall the driver of the network adapter to fix Ethernet doesn’t have valid IP configuration on Windows 10.

#4: Fix Issue Using Command Prompt

  • Press “Windows” and “X” Key at the same time.
  • Select “Windows PowerShell (Admin).

  • Click “Yes”.

  • Now here enter these commands. ( netsh winsock reset | netsh int IP reset )

#5: Disable IPv6 Protocol

  • From Keyboard, Press Windows and R Key at the same time.
  • In the run command, enter ncpa.cpl and then click OK.

  • Locate and Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and Click OK to make save changes.

#6: Disable Device (Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter)

  • From the Keyboard Press Windows and X Key simultaneously.
  • Now from the given options choose Device Manager.

  • After seeing the device manager. Go to View and check Hidden Devices.

  • Here expand Network Adapters and find the Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter.

  • Now right-click on the adapter and select Disable device.

  • Click Yes on the Confirmation Message.

#7: Assign MAC Address to Network Card

As we all know that every network device has its own Mac Address. Sometimes Mac address is not properly set on Windows and in the result, you will get such error on your device. Here is how you can set the network address for the network adapter.

  • Open the Command Prompt on Windows 10 as an administrator.
  • In the command prompt enter IPconfig /all and press Enter.
  • Here find the network adapter and the Physical Address. It is known as Mac Address.
  • Now open network connection’s properties.
  • Click Configure.
  • Click the Advanced tab. From Property select Network Address. Now in Value option, enter your MAC address and click OK.

#8: Enable DHCP Component

  • Press Windows and I Key together to open System App.

  • Now select the Update & security section.

  • From left pane select Troubleshoot.

  • Now troubleshoot one by one.

After troubleshooting all networks check if it fixes Ethernet doesn’t have valid IP configuration on Windows 10. If not then you have to restart DHCP service manually.

  • Press Windows and R Key at the same time.
  • In run command, enter services.msc and click OK.

  • Now locate DHCP Client. Double Click to see Properties.

  • From Startup type select Automatic and Click on Apply than OK.

  • Again right-click on DHCP Client and choose Restart.

  • Click Yes on the Confirmation Message.

#9: Install Network Adapter Drivers (Compatibility mode)

  • Download Driver for the network adapter.
  • Click the file to Open. Right-click the file and choose Properties.

#10: Do chkdsk scan

Sometimes corrupt files also cause an issue of Ethernet IP configuration. So in this situation, chkdsk scan is a good option. To perform the scan you need to

  • Click Start and Write Command Prompt.
  • Open the Command Prompt and then Run as administrator.
  • In the command enter chkdsk c: /f. It will tell you schedule disk checking. Type Y and Press enter.

Now it will do a chkdsk scan. Once done, restart the PC to make changes.

#11: Disable Network connection and change Properties

  • Press Windows Key and R at the same time.
  • In run dialog, enter ncpa.cpl and click OK.
  • Right-click on the Network Connection and select Disbale.
  • Now again Right-click on the Connection and select Properties.
  • Click Configure. Go to the Power Management tab. Uncheck the option of “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” and Click OK.

#12: Disable Network connection via Command Prompt

  • Click Start and Write Command Prompt.
  • Open the Command Prompt and then Run as administrator.
  • Now one by one enter the command IPconfig /release, IPconfig /flushdns, IPconfig /renew and press enter.
  • Once done, Restart the PC.

#13: Fix by Reinstalling TPC / IP

  • From Control Panel. Click on Network and Sharing Center and select Change adapter settings.
  • Right-Click on the Network Connection and select Properties.
  • Click on Client for Microsoft Network and then select Install.

  • From options select Protocol and click Add.

  • Select Reliable Multicast Protocol and click OK.

Now check if it fix Ethernet doesn’t have valid IP configuration on Windows 10 issue or not.

#14: Make Registry Adjustments

  • Use Keyboard and Press Windows and R key.
  • In run dialog, enter regedit and Click OK.

  • Now from the left pane navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ControlNsi.

  • Expand Nsi key. Expand the first subkey. Find 26, Right Click and choose Permissions.

  • Now check Full Control Option in Allow and Click OK.
